A group of employees from the Threshold Association wanted to try the VR’s (National Railways) new Duetto Plus restaurant wagon. VR consulted persons with disabilities in the design process of these 24 new restaurant cabins. The only accessible door to the restaurant was closed and the staff refused to make exceptions.  Inside way to cabin will take the stairs, there is a railing blocking the way in front of the service desk and benches are screwed to the floor.

VR is imagined to have solved the accessibility problem of the restaurant permitting that the train staff can take food and drinks to wheelchair seats. State authority Valvira in turn bless this procedure for granting permission to serve alcohol for people with disabilities to their seats. This proposal shows the inability to see us as members of the community, friends, co-workers or family who want to eat and drink together with their travelling partners.
