Liisa Sammalpenger lost her hearing because of tumours in 1976. In 2004 Liisa received an Auditory Brainstem Implant (ABI). It replaces the function of a defective auditory nerve. After 28 years of deafness, Liisa is getting back some of her hearing. With ABI she recognises now the difference between noise and silence which is important in gatherings.
