Coveralls made of bubble wrap are related to functional “smart” clothes that protect from injury such as those that adjust the warmth or measure the vital functions of the wearer. As an O.I patient, I would like to see shops selling trousers designed to protect from bruises and fractures or vests to alert sedentary workers to incorrect posture of the spine.

The weakening of hearing due to O.I means that words of songs become blurred in my ears and music is often transmitted as incomplete sensations into the mind. In “Concert” I experienced with stages for rhythms and tunes. The melody remains the same but the receptive sense changes.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
Could not put Humpty Dumpty together again.

The most visible symptom of O.I is the susceptibility to bone fractures. Although the fractures may heal, each new crack injures the support structures of the body. The more you crack, the more scars and flawed posture you are left with. The medication that would patch Humpty Dumpty up again to be as good as new has yet to be discovered.
